Just taking a quick break at work...

I have a slight suspicion that I might be getting sick. You know that feeling you get in the back of your throat before you become really ill? Yeah, I've got it...but just a little. I've also got a bit of a headache, despite the fact that I drank a lot of water today. It seems like a lot of people have been getting sick around me, so perhaps it is my turn. I was only sick once this past winter, so it seems that I would be due for a spring cold. Boo!

Nothing too exciting to report here. I read a book this morning -- Julie and Julia : 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen. It was interesting. She's the woman who undertook cooking all of the recipes from the cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child and a few French people. (I know this is terribly reductive, but I have a headache.) I read a couple of the Amazon reviews and I have to say that they put into words what I was trying to figure out this morning when I was telling Cupcake about it. It's like a chick lit novel and less a food book. Because Julie talks so much about her life and her husband and her friends and sex and whatnot. It's good, but I guess I was thinking that it might have been more about the actual cooking than her life. But the project was undertaken to make her re-evaluate her life and give her some purpose. And I think it did!

I have found that many bloggers (well, Pamela Ribbon's Why Girls Are Weird and Wendy McClure's I'm Not the New Me) don't really do a lot for me in print. Because I love their blogs -- I don't read Pamie or Pound too regularly any more, but I love the short essays and the links and everything that makes it a blog. But in a book format....well...it just doesn't have the same feel to it. And I think the writers often have the same tone. I'm not sure quite why, but it's just something that I've noticed.
