In April 2003 the BBC's Big Read began the search for the nation's best-loved novel, and we asked you to nominate your favourite books. (I've placed an asterisk next to those that I've read, a grand total of 37 out of 100. Thanks to my emphasis on Brit lit as an English major and a voracious appetite for children's books, I did better than I might have expected.)
