It has been a crazy day already, and it's only after one! I got to have fun with schedules as soon as I got in, followed by a crazy hour on the desk, and now I've got a bit of a break with cross training.

But enough work stuff. I've managed to read an insane number of books since the last time I counted them up and have made it to the magic number of 50 in only six months! And in July, thus far, I've read 11. So, take that! I'll do a better recap of the reading tomorrow morning when I have access to my list. But I have managed to crank out two children's books yesterday -- yes, I finished the new Harry Potter (and won't talk about it as not to spoiler people who aren't yet) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. First, the Roald Dahl book. I saw the movie this weekend and enjoyed it. I thought Depp made a pretty darn good Willy, although it still isn't what I remember imagining as a child. The Oompa Loompa songs were a bit disconcerting though, and I didn't particularly like the music. But Freddie Highsmith (I think that's his name) is a great Charlie and very much what I pictured him to be. And his dad, how cute! And his grandfather -- Ned Kelly, whom I loved in Waking Ned Devine -- was totally awesome. I enjoyed Harry Potter quite a bit, especially because the kids are getting older and relationships are developing...ah, what fun! My only complaint would be that it seems to be setting up for the ultimate book quite a bit. I mean, the first few Potter adventures stand on their own and don't need as much of the other books to make them understandable, but I feel like I should have re-read book 5 before hand. (Although, I didn't particularly like the fifth book because Harry seemed like a such a teenager...) Oh well, let's just say that I'm looking forward to the new one.

What else is new? I just bought two new CDs yesterday -- the Best of Crosby, Stills, & Nash and the Best of Led Zeppelin. I really like the CSN CD -- it does include the album they did with Neil Young too (Deja Vu) and the songs are pretty darn good. I've got "Wooden Ships" stuck in my head this morning. And I have to say that I was less familiar with the Led Zeppelin stuff than I thought I was going to be -- although I do know "Stairway to Heaven," despite thinking I didn't. I have to listen to the disc including their later hits, and perhaps that one will include some more familiar guitar riffs.
