The internet at work is on the fritz, resulting in the ability to kind of get into Hotmail but not enough ability to actually be able to read messages. It’s kind of frustrating, and seriously, I didn’t realize how much I really rely on the Internet at work. And then there’s the fact that I can’t listen to the new Wilco CD online.

So tonight’s the last eight o’clock night for me for the foreseeable future. I’ll be going home at seven o’clock from now on! And it is a freakin’ boring day for me -- I've only been on the desk for an hour and a half today. An hour and a half! I’m working for eight hours (seven with my hour lunch), and seriously, I am not that busy! Yargh. Oh well, vacation is coming soon and I will be able to escape the library.

Yes, in just three days I will be heading to the airport to fly far, far away from Baltimore to the wonderfulness that is Wisconsin. Well, who I am kidding -- Wisconsin isn’t the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it will be nice to see my family. Plus I’m going out in Minneapolis! Woohoo! Uh, yeah. Mostly I’m hoping that it won’t be too cold. The weather has been beautiful in Baltimore. Not too humid and I definitely don’t need an air conditioner yet, which makes me very happy. I haven’t even had the fans on too much of late.

Anyway, I did a little investigating of English lit grad programs yesterday while on the desk. (Let’s just say that it was pretty dead around here.) And I was very surprised, but the University of Maryland program actually looks pretty appealing. Most of the other programs I looked at offered only a Ph.D program, and I don’t think I’m really that interested in English lit. An MA, yes. Ph.D, no. Although the program at Madison also looks pretty appealing, it only offers a Ph.D track, with an MA awarded on the way. It was kind of interesting, after looking at some of the school’s mission statements, I thought to myself, I don’t think I want to do this. It just seems really scary. But then when I look at the courses they offer, I think, these classes sound like fun. I could actually do this! So if I am really serious about looking into grad school, I’ll need to find a program that has what I’m interested in, as well as courses that would be fun and not too pretentious. Although, getting an MA in English lit is kind of pretentious in the first place. Especially because I already have on master’s degree. Gosh, I hope I don’t turn into one of those snobby people who keeps going on and on and on about how their first master’s degree program was… Ugh. There were a couple of those in my MLIS program. They were not well liked.

Well, enough of that. I found out about a fun pet from a co-worker today. A sugar glider sure looks cute, but I’m guessing they are a pain to care for. Give me a chihuahua or a Boston terrier any day!
